This is a fun weekend with fellow Rotarians and an opportunity to celebrate our accomplishments for the year. 

Our Speaker is Olaywa Austin, Training Institute Manager from the LGBTQ Resource Center.  The Sacramento LGBT Community Center works to create a region where LGBTQ+ people thrive.  We support the health and wellness of the most marginalized, advocate for equality and justice, and work to build a culturally rich LGBTQ+ community.

Our Speaker is Jennifer Hemmen, a Fair Oaks resident who is an Environmental Consultant and a member of the leadership team for History Expeditions. She will be presenting an overview of the activities of this "active" organization; lots of opportunities to explore our region's outdoor beauty.

This is a picnic/social event at Skinner Winery in Rescue, CA.  This event will occur in lieu of the club meeting on August 31st.

Our speaker for this meeting will be Alida Bray, who will present a documentary film she helped produce for Mutual Housing California, “Blueprint for Belonging.”  This film shares the story of the Wong Center, the first affordable housing community in the Railyards of Sacramento.  It includes interviews with residents of the Wong Center as well as the leaders and partners of the project.

Our speaker for this meeting is Christy Byrne Yates, author of “Building a Legacy of Love:  Thriving in the Sandwich Generation.”  She shares research and her own experiences in the unique challenges of loving and caring for family members.  With over thirty years working as a mental professional, she offers insights that can lead to greater compassion, resilience and well-being for those of us in the Sandwich Generation.

Starting Point supports refugee children soccer teams.  The end of season celebration is on October 2 at 4:00 pm– 6:30 pm.  Five Rotary volunteers are needed to help set up, clean up and celebrate with the players.  Afghanistan food will be served. This event is a social gathering for club members.  It will be at the Fulgham's home, Saturday, Sept. 26 at 5:30 PM. There will be dinner at 6:00PM and friendly poker at 7:00PM. Our speaker for this meeting will be Antonio Garcia, who is the husband of our member, Ann Huntley-Garcia.  He and a colleague will be speaking to us about Proamigo, an international project members of our club have done work with.

THIS MEETING IS ONLY $10

Safe Halloween will be happening on October 29 at 3 pm – 5pm in Fair Oaks Village.  This is a Fair Oaks Rotary sponsored event.  FO Recreation and Parks will not be participating this year.  Members dressed in costumes will be handing out candy to kids in front of the village store fronts and there will be a table set up for kids to select a book. This is a fun event for all young and the young at heart!  Please bring lots of candy to the Monday meetings in October.  Ree Judge and Charm Madden are the leads for this event.
