80 Families Eat Better This Holiday,
Thanks to Fair Oaks Rotary
(Here's how we do it.)
First, early in the morning a big old truck arrives at Northridge Elementary School with a bunch of boxes and a lot of food, mostly donated. We get to put the boxes together.
Then we get briefed by the Chief Elf, fill the boxes with food and, after adding a frozen turkey and a gallon of milk, we're ready to go.
When the school day ends, as kids are being picked up, a turkey, milk and three boxes of food are loaded into the family cars, and we all get to play Santa. This usually goes past sunset, making it a long day.
It's one of our favorite service projects, so it's very likely we'll be here again in a year.
