Our Speaker will be Marcia Eymann. He speech is titled "Her Side of the Story" and it explores the roll of women in Sacramento region during the California Gold Rush. She will be talking about ways in which women have contributed to the economic development of the region.

Rotaplast Rotary International India Project

Jim & Diana Cralle will do a presentation on their experience in India & involvement with Rotaplast project.

This is a special, optional pre-board meeting to review the results of the preliminary year-end financial review and budget analysis conducted by Financial Review Committee.

Dinner will be served, but space is limited and RSVP's are required.

On May 5 Andrew Saunders will give us an overview of the Lincoln Highway, the first transcontinental automobile route, cobbled together in 1913 from road segments across America.  His focus on the route in our locale will include the alternate segment that traversed Orangevale, Fair Oaks and Citrus Heights, and what is planned to memorialize that segment with signage. Andrew is a member of the Lincoln Highway Association, as well as the Rotary Club of Citrus Heights, and recently made a similar presentation to the Orangevale Historical Society.

Join Eric Seider, an international permaculture consultant, designer, and educator with a wealth of experience in the most demanding environments across the globe, as he explains why he co-founded Permaculture Fair Oaks in 2024. This nonprofit permaculture community group has a mission of working with nature to create sustainable human habitats and food systems. Permaculture Fair Oaks is interested in collaborating with individuals and groups like Rotary to create demonstration gardens showcasing suburban food production.

Our meal will be provided by La Placita.

Jackeline Aguilar, Regional Coordinator for Get On The Bus Sacramento, will explain how they provide support to families with incarcerated loved ones.

Get On The Bus (GOTB) is a statewide prison visiting program that educates hundreds of volunteers and supporters throughout California and engages the community to raise awareness about the plight of children with a parent in prison.

Get On The Bus advocates for the right of children to see, touch, and talkto their parent who is incarcerated.

It’s movie time—“MISSION IMPOSSIBLE”!  All right all you movie lovers and especially “Mission Impossible” Lovers!  Join Diana & Jim for a fun Club night at the movies.  You can now pre-buy tickets for the opening at the Cinemark Century Folsom.  Diana & Jim have purchased their tickets for Thursday, May 22nd, at 6:50pm, seats F13-14, if you want to sit close by.  If you haven’t seen Mission Impossible – Part 1, we suggest you watch that first just to make sure you don’t miss anything.   See you at the movies!!

Poker Fellowship - has returned for Saturday, May 31starting at 6 PM. As before, it will be held at the Fulgham home and we will play Texas Hold'em with a $20 buy in. Dinner will be pizza. Please either chip in $10 for pizza or bring a salad. Frank and Doris will provide dessert. Please bring your own beverage of choice. Please RSVP if you plan to attend and let us know if you prefer to bring a salad or chip in for pizza. We can have up to 4 tables, so there is plenty of room. We will host the District Recognition and Awards Events  at Safetyville, USA, a miniature city that spans a little over 3 acres of land in Sacramento, California. We will kick the meeting off and welcome our distinguished guests before turning the agenda over to DG Steve to hand out awards. There will also be a chili cookoff (our dinner) with the winning club getting a nice prize.

The Rotary Club of Fair Oaks is once again honored to be selected as the host for the beer and wine boothes at the 20th Annual Fair Oaks Chicken Festival, this year in Fair Oaks Park.

We need volunteers to:

• help pick up and drop off kegs and wine before and after the event
• set up tents, tables & chairs before the event
• pour beer & wine during shifts during the event
• clean up and load tents, tables & chairs after the event
