On May 5 Andrew Saunders will give us an overview of the Lincoln Highway, the first transcontinental automobile route, cobbled together in 1913 from road segments across America. His focus on the route in our locale will include the alternate segment that traversed Orangevale, Fair Oaks and Citrus Heights, and what is planned to memorialize that segment with signage. Andrew is a member of the Lincoln Highway Association, as well as the Rotary Club of Citrus Heights, and recently made a similar presentation to the Orangevale Historical Society. Jackeline Aguilar, Regional Coordinator for Get On The Bus Sacramento, will explain how they provide support to families with incarcerated loved ones. Get On The Bus (GOTB) is a statewide prison visiting program that educates hundreds of volunteers and supporters throughout California and engages the community to raise awareness about the plight of children with a parent in prison.

DDA Maroun will speak about the human trafficking epidemic currently ongoing and expanding in the Sacramento region and reaching far beyond our region. The most recent statistics show that there are 11.2 times more victims of sex trafficking in Sacramento than what law enforcement and service providers have been able to identify. She will discuss the typical profile of a victim and organizations you can support locally working to fight for these victims.
Stephanie Maroun is a Deputy District Attorney with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, where she serves as a trial attorney for the Sacramento County Regional Human Trafficking Task Force. She was admitted to the California Bar in December 2010, she earned her law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and her undergraduate degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. During her time with the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office, she has worked in various assignments, including adult sexual assault, major crimes, and domestic violence.
