His focus on the route in our locale will include the alternate segment that traversed Orangevale, Fair Oaks and Citrus Heights, and what is planned to memorialize that segment with signage. Andrew is a member of the Lincoln Highway Association, as well as the Rotary Club of Citrus Heights, and recently made a similar presentation to the Orangevale Historical Society. Get On The Bus (GOTB) is a statewide prison visiting program that educates hundreds of volunteers and supporters throughout California and engages the community to raise awareness about the plight of children with a parent in prison.

DDA Maroun will speak about the human trafficking epidemic currently ongoing and expanding in the Sacramento region and reaching far beyond our region. The most recent statistics show that there are 11.2 times more victims of sex trafficking in Sacramento than what law enforcement and service providers have been able to identify. She will discuss the typical profile of a victim and organizations you can support locally working to fight for these victims.
Stephanie Maroun is a Deputy District Attorney with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, where she serves as a trial attorney for the Sacramento County Regional Human Trafficking Task Force. She was admitted to the California Bar in December 2010, she earned her law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and her undergraduate degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. During her time with the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office, she has worked in various assignments, including adult sexual assault, major crimes, and domestic violence.

Our Speaker will be Howard Homler speaking on: "End of Life Options Act - Medical Aid in Dying". Howard Homler, MD, Fellow of the American Academy of Physicians. Howard is a retired specialist in internal medicine, hospice, and palliative care. In addition to many years praticing internal medicine, he has spent recent years as a hospice medical director, prior to retiring. He will discuss the California law that allows people with a terminal illness to choose medical-aid-in-dying--reviewing what the End of Life Options Act provides California residents. Dr. Homler has both knowledge about the law and personal experience in providing medical-aid-in-dying to multiple individuals. After the presentation you'll have a clear understanding of why such an option was needed, who qualifies and who doesn't, what are the safeguards to avoid abuse, and how does the process work.
