Join Marcia Eymann as she shares how this 501c3 nonprofit organization focuses on creating a place where those who are 22 years and older and have intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) can come together and realize their full potential as adults. Infinite Friends is a place where everyone knows one another, a place where they feel at home and more importantly where they want to be.

 

Our meal will be: Caffe Italiano - Lasagna with meat sauce and a vegetarian sauce, salad and bread.

Club Meeting - Andrew Sauders - Lincoln Highway
May 05, 2025 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

On May 5 Andrew Saunders will give us an overview of the Lincoln Highway, the first transcontinental automobile route, cobbled together in 1913 from road segments across America.  His focus on the route in our locale will include the alternate segment that traversed Orangevale, Fair Oaks and Citrus Heights, and what is planned to memorialize that segment with signage. Andrew is a member of the Lincoln Highway Association, as well as the Rotary Club of Citrus Heights, and recently made a similar presentation to the Orangevale Historical Society.

Meal:  Grilled chicken, Carnitas, Rice, Beans, Tortillas, Salsa, Guacamole and Sour Cream.

Join Eric Seider, an international permaculture consultant, designer, and educator with a wealth of experience in the most demanding environments across the globe, as he explains why he co-founded Permaculture Fair Oaks in 2024. This nonprofit permaculture community group has a mission of working with nature to create sustainable human habitats and food systems. Permaculture Fair Oaks is interested in collaborating with individuals and groups like Rotary to create demonstration gardens showcasing suburban food production.

Club Meeting - Get On The Bus Sacramento

Jackeline Aguilar, Regional Coordinator for Get On The Bus Sacramento, will explain how they provide support to families with incarcerated loved ones.

Get On The Bus (GOTB) is a statewide prison visiting program that educates hundreds of volunteers and supporters throughout California and engages the community to raise awareness about the plight of children with a parent in prison.

 

Get On The Bus advocates for the right of children to see, touch, and talkto their parent who is incarcerated.

Club Meeting - District Recognition and Awards

We will host the District Recognition and Awards Events  at Safetyville, USA, a miniature city that spans a little over 3 acres of land in Sacramento, California. We will kick the meeting off and welcome our distinguished guests before turning the agenda over to DG Steve to hand out awards. Club Meeting - Human Trafficking
Jun. 16, 2025 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
DDA Maroun will speak about the human trafficking epidemic currently ongoing and expanding in the Sacramento region and reaching far beyond our region.  The most recent statistics show that there are 11.2 times more victims of sex trafficking in Sacramento than what law enforcement and service providers have been able to identify.  She will discuss the typical profile of a victim and organizations you can support locally working to fight for these victims.
 
Stephanie Maroun is a Deputy District Attorney with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, where she serves as a trial attorney for the Sacramento County Regional Human Trafficking Task Force.  She was admitted to the California Bar in December 2010, she earned her law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and her undergraduate degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.  During her time with the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office, she has worked in various assignments, including adult sexual assault, major crimes, and domestic violence. 

Our meal will be a chicken and carnitas tostada bar provided by La Placita.

There has been a minor change in start time since we don't have to account for travel time from the Pre-Dinner Social to the Dinner Service/Program, as we've done in previous years. Start time is now 5:30 PM (not 5:00pm).

End of Life Options Act - Medical Aid in Dying

Our Speaker will be Howard Homler speaking on: "End of Life Options Act - Medical Aid in Dying". Howard Homler, MD, Fellow of the American Academy of Physicians. Howard is a retired specialist in internal medicine, hospice, and palliative care. In addition to many years praticing internal medicine, he has spent recent years as a hospice medical director, prior to retiring. He will discuss the California law that allows people with a terminal illness to choose medical-aid-in-dying--reviewing what the End of Life Options Act provides California residents. Dr. Homler has both knowledge about the law and personal experience in providing medical-aid-in-dying to multiple individuals. After the presentation you'll have a clear understanding of why such an option was needed, who qualifies and who doesn't, what are the safeguards to avoid abuse, and how does the process work.

Our meal will be: Lasagne with salad and bread from Cafe Italiano

Club Meeting - Mexican Independence Day
Sep. 15, 2025 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Speaker: Dr. Ellie Perez finished her post grad studies and thesis at the University of Madrid and University of Guadalajara with a specialization in Tribal Cultures. She is one of the core team founders for Folsom Lake College. As Academic Senate President for Los Rios Community College District, Dr. Perez authored CRC and FLC governance documents as designated by AB 1725. Professor Perez' research and community contributions have been in language, sociology and culture. Her topic for our club meeting is: "The Mexico We Don't Know, Mexican Independence, September 15, 1810.

2025 Chicken Festival Watering Hole

The Rotary Club of Fair Oaks is once again honored to be selected as the host for the beer and wine boothes at the 20th Annual Fair Oaks Chicken Festival, this year in Fair Oaks Park.

We need volunteers to:

  • help pick up kegs, tents, tables & chairs before  the event (Fri 9/19)

  • set up tents, tables & chairs before the event (Sat 9/20 9am)

  • pour beer & wine during shifts during the event (Sat 9/20 noon -6pm)

  • clean up and load tents, tables & chairs after the event (Sat 9/20 6pm)

  • help return kegs, tents, tables and chairs (Mon 9/21)

Our goal is to have volunteers identified prior to Sept 1.  Please contact one of us for more details or to volunteer!

2025 Walk to End Alzheimer's

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's® is the world's largest fundraiser for Alzheimer's care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease.

The Alzheimer Association is a resource partner for the Alzheimer's Dementia Rotary Action Group (ADRAG) and is proud to announce that ADRAG will be a Walk to End Alzheimer's National Team for the 4th year in a row! Last year, over 260 Rotary groups across the country signed up and raised over $500,000 to help with the fight against Alzheimer's.

Let's see how many members can sign up to walk this year, or sponsor someone who does!

Club Meeting - MIke Aho, Parks District

The day we have all been waiting for! We will be back at the Community Clubhouse in Old Fair Oaks Village. Our speaker will be Mike Aho, District Administrator of the Fair Oaks Recreation and Parks District. He will update us and welcome us to our new meeting home.
