Michele Zumwalt an recovery advocate and the author of Ruby Shoes; Surviving Prescription Drug Addiction.

Learn more about the book Ruby Shoes; Surviving Prescription Drug Addiction.

About Michele: Michele Zumwalt lives in Folsom, California where she and her husband, John, raised two daughters, Sarah and Katie Zumwalt. They are active in the recovery community and Michele’s the author of Amazon’s #1 Hot New Release book, “Ruby Shoes: Surviving Prescription Drug Addiction.” Michele has served as a Law Enforcement Chaplain in Sacramento County where she’s done far too many overdose death notifications. She knows first-hand the tragic toll this crisis is having on families. “Ruby Shoes” was written with one purpose in mind, helping people. For every 100 books sold, they are able to donate 50 books to recovery homes, prisons, rehabs, etc. to help raise public awareness of what the US Surgeon General calls the #1 public health crisis of our time, the opioid epidemic. Michele and her family have done presentations on the opioid crisis for the International Overdose Awareness Day Rally at the California State Capitol, Sacramento Women’s Expo, UC Davis Hospital, and medical schools. As a family they’ve traveled the country and internationally to do book signings at Barnes & Noble bookstores, libraries, hospitals, Medical Conferences, churches, recovery facilities, and police departments. Michele has worked for Princess Cruises as an Enrichment Lecturer to share hope all over the world. She’s also been featured on national programs like the CBS Evening News and NPR’s Morning Edition, K-LOVE, and numerous other local and regional news programs.

It is a passion project I started in the fall of 2015 and now a newly formed 501c3 nonprofit organization. The initial mission was to give back to those in need during the holidays. It has since grown into a year round non profit organization collecting new and gently used purses and filling the purses with essential items that women would want or need in their purses if they were starting over with nothing.

Learn more at https://juliespurseproject.org

If you have used purses around or small soaps, shampoos etc that can be put in them to donate, please bring them to the meeting.
